The New School Center for Global Mental Health Launches WHO’s EASE Program in Brooklyn

The New School Center for Global Mental Health has officially launched the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Early Adolescent Skills in Emotion (EASE) training program in Brooklyn. It marks the first U.S. initiative to test EASE as a strategy for building capacity and reaching young people in need of mental health support.

Last summer, the team worked closely with community based organizations to adapt this WHO intervention in partnership with young people, caregivers and community-based organizations in Brooklyn. Their input transformed the EASE manual and we are humbled to be the first initiative in the U.S. to test EASE as a strategy for building capacity and reaching young people in need of mental health support.

This groundbreaking program is being rolled out in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Community Mental Health, DYCD, Grand Street Settlement, the Bro Experience, and El Puente, aiming to reach both youth and caregivers throughout the borough. It also represents a true CGMH-wide effort and a significant step forward in supporting the mental well-being of young people in Brooklyn!

Congratulations to GMH Clinical PhD Externs!

We are incredibly excited to share that all of our Clinical PhD students matched at some of the most sought after externships in the city. Congratulations, Lindsay Siegel (Mt Sinai, World Trade Center), Natalie Mardoian (Memorial Sloan Kettering), Caroline McEneaney (NYU, World Trade Center), and Aline Lanes (Bronx Care, Jacobi Hospital) as they get ready to embark on this next milestone in their clinical training!
