The Mental Health Capacity Building initiative in Lower Manhattan aims to address the pressing mental health needs in a community deeply affected by historical and ongoing stressors.

Leveraging task-sharing strategies, the project trains non-specialists to deliver evidence-based interventions, including Problem Management Plus (PM+) and Psychological First Aid (PFA). These scalable interventions will increase access to care, reduce stigma, and foster culturally relevant support through a network of community-based organizations.

By integrating these strategies within existing services and focusing on sustainability, the initiative aspires to strengthen community resilience, enhance mental health outcomes, and serve as a replicable model for other regions.
